GILAD CHAIM BEN MIRIAM (23-8-06) who was seriously wounded two days before the "ceasefire" set in. He has severe head injury with unknown brain damage but has been off the critical life list for 2-3 days already and is hopefully regaining full consciousness independently. He was injured fighting on the eastern front north of Kiryat Shmona and Metulla near a Hizbullah arms stockpile.

 

These names of soldiers and civilians injured in the war were emailed to me from  a list sent 22-8-06

 

OR BEN SARA EMEINU lost both legs- He's a young musician who plays guitar all day in the hospital from his bed. He amazed everyone, when he said from his hospital bed, that if he was able to have helped his country in some way, then he didn't regret having lost both of his legs.

AMIT BEN NAVA, very critically wounded. (8-9-06) I received this message: He was transferred to another hospital about 2 weeks ago, but has still not woken up.  He has lost his vision and they still do not know exactly what other damage he
will have until he actually wakes up.  He has undergone many surgeries to remove all the metal shrapnel and to reconstruct his face but the past week has been running very high fevers.

ROEY AVRAHAM BEN SARA, (8-9-06) a 21 year old soldier from Elkana, who was seriously injured in Lebanon. One of Roey's neighbors says that he needs a lot of prayers. He is still not conscious but is not calm either.

 

SHAI BEN DALIA, a 27-year-old man from the northern community of Sh'ar Yashuv, who is hospitalized in Safed.  He has been in critical condition since a Katyusha attack on Friday, Aug. 4.

 

YITZHAK BEN RIVKA (22-8-06), a wounded naval soldier in Lebanon is still in serious condition.

*YONATON SHLOMO BEN ROCHEL( 10-7-07) Two days before the war ended he
was critically wounded with a serious head injury. Today he is in Bet Levenstein. He is paralyzed,
cannot speak but can only press a button (sometimes) to answer yes or no. His mother has
not left his bed side for the last year.

 

MICHAI BEN ORA (25-7-06) is at present undergoing surgery for severe leg and back injuries which he received while fighting in Lebanon.  The surgery is
expected to be lengthy and complex.

GIDON BEN YEHUDIT (25-7-06) a soldier that was hit in Bint
Jbail 24-7-06 and is undergoing operations on his legs today at Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

ELROI (pronounced 'el-rowee') RAFAEL ben GALIA GLYNIS (6-8-06), a soldier who was seriously injured and paralyzed in the crossfire when Israel was withdrawing from Gaza, is slowly improving. I received the following message: Elro'i Refael ben Galya Glynis still needs our tefillot (prayers). (I get updates from

a former coworker of his mother.)

 

TZUR PINCHAS BEN SARIT SARA RIVKA (30-1-06), the ten-year-old boy very seriously injured in a terrorist shooting attack this summer. I received this report from One Family: Tzur visits Alyn Children's hospital in Jerusalem almost daily for physical and speech therapy. The gunshot he suffered to his head has severely impaired his motor functions.  He's just begun speaking individual words - he still can't formulate sentences.  He should be returning to school next fall. 

 

YOGEV MENASHE BEN BRUIAH (26-5-05), the soldier who was seriously injured on March 7th, '05 in Hevron.  : Half of his body is paralyzed. He is at Tel Hashomer, and getting Neurological treatment. He is not in any danger, but he has a long recovery ahead of him.

 

From the 2-2-04 attack in Betlechem:

 

DROR BEN YAFFA (14-6-06) 25, is paralyzed with a spinal cord injury. He continues to go to rehab, is learning to swim which is helping, and has had some feeling in his toe. Please keep praying for him!

 

From the Jan. 29th #19 bus bombing:

 

SHIRA BAT ORA (12-7-06), the little girl, now four, I believe, injured in the #2 Jerusalem bus bombing of August '03, with her whole family. Shira had outpatient surgery on her eye after Yom Kippur but it was not successful. She will need another, more complicated surgery. The doctors told her mother that it should be done soon, probably after Pesach. ORA bat SHULAMITE SHOKAT, her mother, had surgery on her ear, but is still not able to hear from it. The situation stays status quo and Shira has not yet had surgery. Ora needs emotional support and would be very happy for letters and messages of cheer. YITZHAK TZVI BEN MIRIAM AIDA (15-5-06), 37 year old father of four who sustained major spinal cord injuries in the 18-5-03 bus attack. I received the following message: Yitzchak Tzvi has made very little progress physically, but he finds speaking to groups of people about his experiences keeps him from getting depressed.  He is celebrating his son's bar mitzvah next week. Please keep him on the list and thank you very much.

 

*TAMIR BEN TZIPPORAH, (14-7-06) the father of three, who was shot in the jaw in the May 5th '04 ambush, in which his friend was murdered. He still is going through surgeries and his last one was not successful.

 

ASAEL BEN ROCHEL (17-12-05), the little boy from Itamar who lost his mother, three siblings, and his leg when an Arab terrorist attacked his home in Itamar on May 21st, 02. According to my source, he is still not able to use the prosthesis, he is able to manage well with one leg. Still, he needs our prayers that he will adjust to the prosthesis.

 

EDNA BAT YOCHEVED, (17-5-06) was attacked with acid by an Arab woman in her store on Pesach '01. I received the following message: Edna had yet another operation on her face & neck before Pesach in Boston and is going back to Boston in the summer for more.  But she's lost a lot of faith as she constantly has to endure the terribly heavy, cumbersome, hot balloons hanging under the skin of face & neck. If you saw her, you wouldn't believe what she has to go thru constantly.  

 

AHARON BEN RACHEL (17-5-06) a border policeman, and real hero, from Gilo 4 kids, was injured in the 19-6-02 French Hill Attack. He saw the suicide bomber, tried to stop him, and was badly injured. He's still not with prosthesis 'coz of the problem with one leg stump.  They're working on it; he goes to Hadassah Ein Kerem twice a week. 

 

DVIR BEN CHANA DVORA (10-7-06), who was seriously injured on June 11th '02 when someone stepped on a land mine. He continues to have surgery for shrapnel and other complications. Also, due to his injuries, he is not in a normal school program and is fighting depression. Dvir's situation stays status quo.

SHARON CHAIM BEN GILA, (17-5-06) The young man who was seriously injured in the Dec. '01 Ben Yehuda bombing. I received this message: although Sharon still has pieces of shrapnel, etc. in his brain, he's doing better vis a vis
mobility & goes for treatment (out-patient) every single day. 

 

CHANA TOVA CHAYA BAT PESCHA (17-5-06), the young mother of a young girl, who was seriously injured in the Sbarro bomb blast the summer of '01 is now back on the respirator and in the respiratory unit. The situation stays the same depressing status quo and her daughter in now finishing second grade.

 

ARIEL BEN LIA RIVKA, (14-5-05) the baby from Atzmona who was attacked with mortar shells before PESACH '01, continues to make progress. At five and a half, he is now living in Ihr Emunah, The City of Faith, with his family and other refugees from his village. They have reestablished the school system there and he goes to kindergarten. He limps but is interacting well.
