Joy/ The Baal Shem Tov

Sadness locks the gates of Heaven,
Prayer opens the gates of heaven,
And joy, can break down walls.

In this saying, the Baal Shem Tov emphasizes the importance of joy in Worshipping God.
When we are sad we are actually distancing ourselves from God,
by not accepting His will.
When we pray we can achieve further closeness.
However, when we worship God with Simcha (joy), accepting His will,
we are actually breaking down all the walls that separate us from God and from our real selves, our Godly soul.

(Of-course we also need one hour every day to cry out to God with a broken heart
for the distance that we feel from Him, but the rest of the day we need to be in Simcha ).
